Almond Affogato Cake Kit

I had such a great experience with this DIY cake kit. The product itself is thoughtfully designed. everything from the pre measured ingredients to the inclusion of tools and clear, step-by-step instructions makes the process seamless and approachable. it removes a lot of friction and makes baking feel accessible, even for beginners.

The final cake turned out beautifully, it genuinely looked like something from a bakery, which was such a rewarding feeling. But beyond that, the whole experience felt really special. It’s not just a product, it’s something you can enjoy doing, whether on your own or with someone else.

I think this is such a lovely concept, especially for occasions like Mother’s Day, anniversary, birthdays where the experience matters just as much as the end result. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something fun, creative, and meaningful.

Was given as a corporate Christmas gift. Loved that it was personal enough as it was for clients who love to cook, but general enough that I wouldn’t make a faux pas in gifting.

I have always been a fan of the creations from Maja Rose Cake Designs – they made the cake for my hens and wedding and loved their Fathers’ Day and Christmas treat boxes. Never in my life did I think I could make a cake anywhere close to the level of their creations.
Enter their cake kit.
I used their almond affogato cake kit to make my daughter’s 4th Frozen themed birthday cake. I was a bit unsure about whether I could create a cake as good as the one on the instructions but I wanted to shoot for the stars. I LOVED it. The instructions were detailed and written in a way that was easy to follow. Everything was labelled and measured and the disposable baking trays blew my mind – being able to bake without buying different size baking trays was a gamechanger.
I had so much fun baking my daughter’s cake – I used fondant snowflakes and a Frozen cake toper to theme the cake. It looked so amazing – I was stunned that I could follow instructions to make such a beautiful cake and the flavours were just perfect – a sophisticated chocolate cake with divine buttercream. Everyone at the party were so impressed and kept asking for the recipe!
I am definitely going to buy another cake kit for making birthday cakes. I would highly recommend for any aspiring or budding baker – you will have so much fun and surprise yourself (and others!) with what you can achieve.

The Maja Rose kit is superbly presented. Everything that was listed in the pack was there, in pristine condition, and all ingredients were high quality. The best part about the pack was that it gave me the confidence to try a layer-cake and buttercream piping for the first time. If you read the instructions carefully (and follow them!) the result is a stunning layer-cake you can be proud of. The actual cake is moist and has a medium-strength coffee flavour when eaten together with the buttercream icing. I realised that the “difficulty level” of the Affogato cake is only related to the decoration and design (and not the actual cake baking.) I did get gold sprinkles everywhere! I should have taken more note of the “baking tip” to put a tray underneath before starting the decoration. The piping turned out really well. I practised piping on a plate first (as the instructions suggested) and we were thrilled with the result. Also, you don’t need your own baking tins to make this cake, because the kit includes disposable ones. They worked really well, and there’s no washing up!
